The Shotmaker's Mile. You May Curse It but You Will Love It!
Home of the Shotmaker’s Mile, Oak Terrace Golf Course provides championship-style golf in the heart of Central Illinois’ countryside. We’re located in Pana, Illinois, less than a two-hour drive from St. Louis or Peoria, and four hours south of Chicago. We provide golfers from far and wide the opportunity to experience one of downstate Illinois’ finest courses!
The hallmarks of this golf course are its wooded terrain, rolling hills, and prairie lands. The front nine is a links style course with negotiation of water hazards while the back nine cuts through mature woodlands as it challenges players with rolling fairways and water hazards. From champions to novice players, multiple tee locations make this course enjoyable for all golfers. “The Shotmaker’s Mile” is a stretch of holes during the back nine that is especially challenging because of wood and water hazards, dog-legs, and risk-reward opportunities. You’ll love to hate it, and hate to love it! It demonstrates Central Illinois’ beauty to a tee.
Whether you are an experienced golfer or it is your first time, at the Oak Terrace Golf Course we are happy to have you play on our course.
We offer a resort course that’s open to anyone, as well as overnight lodging and several Real Estate options and opportunities. Oak Terrace Resort is a golf community where you can choose from lots, townhomes, LakeSide Villas, Village homes and our Vacation Club.
As you arrive off Route 51 South, you’ll find Oak Terrace Golf Course, the Inn at Oak Terrace, our townhomes, and Mulligan’s Restaurant to your right. Everything is nicely laid out and convenient!
This Central Illinois Golf Course is unique with many fun holes. “Shotmaker’s Mile” is holes 12 through 16, aptly named for their risk/reward opportunity. Once you play Shotmaker’s Mile, you’ll never forget it. You better not – if you ever come back for a repeat round! You’ll find that our course conditions exceed all competitors’.
One course or two? You decide! How different can the front nine be from the back nine? That question is answered beautifully at Oak Terrace! Our front nine are flat and predominantly open, which lets you spray it a bit off the tee. Rather than carrying a hazard, hitting over, under, or around a tree, the wide, tree lined, fairways offer you many different shots. The greens on the front are large with heavy undulation.
However, the back nine holes are cut out of timber and feature many elevation changes. In the second half of the course you’re either in the fairway, the water, or lost in the trees. There’s a lot of doglegs around the trees. We play as long as Mother Nature allows, due to the many seasonal differences in Central Illinois. Each season enhances the beauty of the Oak Terrace Golf Course and brings a new ambiance, making each stroke a new experience for even the most frequent visitor.
Being in the Midwest, spring and fall are the busiest times of the year. In the springtime golfers, flowers, trees, and the course itself spring to life. Golfing in the fall, at this Central Illinois Golf Course, is incomparable due to the splendor that accompanies the changing colors of the season. However, our course is beautiful during the summer months as well. Many customers comment that they’ve never seen bluegrass fairways so thick. With a great course and amenities fit for the whole family, Dad can hit the links while mom and the kids enjoy the outdoor swimming pool at the resort center. After a day full of play, everyone can come together for dinner and relaxation in the evening. Click Here for a course description.
